This Valentine’s Day, we invite you to celebrate a love that truly has no limits—the love our pets so generously give. It’s a bond that transcends challenges, embraces differences, and reminds us that every life has value.
Here at Lil BUB’s Big FUND, in partnership with Four Winds Connections, we see this special kind of love in action every day through our Community Love initiative. It’s an initiative that embodies everything BUB stood for—caring for the most vulnerable animals and the people who adore them.
First, I want to share Tommy’s story.
Tommy’s Road to Recovery
- Severe Skin Disease: Tommy, a beloved Boxer-Lab mix, struggled with diffuse and severe skin issues. He tested negative for ringworm and mange, leaving his family and vets searching for answers.
- Persistent Care & Love: Over the course of several months, Tommy’s mom gave him medicated shampoos and visited the vet for periodic steroid injections. Despite the uncertainty, her unwavering devotion never faltered.
- A Happy Pup Once More: Gradually, Tommy’s fur grew back, his redness subsided, and his energy soared. Now, he’s “back to his normal happy self,” according to his family—grateful to every donor who pitched in to help.
Tommy illustrates why we do this work. Our Community Love initiative provides Tommy, and pets just like him, the care they need even when the path to answers isn’t always clear. We know that special needs pets have value, and when we care for them, we improve the landscape for all pets and the folks who love and care for them.
Why Community Love?
- Keeping Families Together: Through this initiative, we provide resources that help families facing hardships keep their beloved pets at home—safe, healthy, and loved.
- Fostering Compassion: By sharing stories of special needs pets, we encourage the world to embrace animals who may require a little extra care—but who give back a whole lot more love.
- Lifting Up Communities: Our work doesn’t end with animals; it extends to the people who benefit from their companionship. Together with Four Winds Connections, we make sure everyone can experience the life-changing joy that pets bring.
