Otis has been in our trusted partners care for 83 days.
When he arrived with his sister Diamond, both were emaciated, freezing, and barely able to walk. They had been surviving outside in the snow, and it took weeks of intensive care just to get them strong enough for foster placement.
Diamond went into foster care and was adopted. Otis is still awaiting his forever home — and despite everything he’s been through, he’s remained gentle, resilient, and full of life.
For months, Otis has had a slight hunch and stiffness. We recently noticed that his condition was worsening and sent him for spinal X-rays. His spine and hips appeared normal — but a foreign object was found in his abdomen.
Yesterday, Otis needed emergency surgery to prevent any further risk.
Thanks to our trusted partner, Otis was able to have immediate surgery. The cost for Otis’s surgery is just over $3,000.
We know that caring for animals like Otis — those with complex medical needs — is far from easy.
